What BasicApps makes

Approachable iPhone apps with the capabilities other apps commonly put behind a subscription, an upgrade or ads. “Basic” describes the focus, not the finish: an app is meant to do its job completely, without a pro version, a trial or a feature gate.

The same terms in every app

Every app in the BasicApps group is published on the same terms.

• Free. The whole app is the app. No pro tier, no trials, no feature gates.
• No ads.
• No subscriptions. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.
• No new account. Nothing to sign up for.
• Nothing to unlock. No feature sits behind a payment. Where an app offers an optional tip jar, it is a thank-you and unlocks nothing.

Privacy

Wherever the platform allows, everything runs on your device. Where an app does use an online service — optional sync, for example — its own privacy page says exactly what is sent and where. Each app’s privacy page is linked from its page on this site, and this website’s own privacy notice covers what happens when you visit here.

What BasicApps doesn’t claim

Some tasks will still be done better by larger or paid tools, and BasicApps doesn’t claim otherwise. The aim is narrower: apps that do the job well for most people, cost nothing, and are clear about what they don’t do. If an app is ever retired, this site will say so plainly.
