BasicApps app — ScanBasic
ScanBasic terms of use.
Effective: 5 October 2026
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Agreement
These terms apply when you download or use ScanBasic. Apple’s standard App Store terms also apply. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
What ScanBasic provides
ScanBasic is a free iPhone app for scanning and importing documents, turning them into searchable PDFs, organising them with folders and tags, marking them up, signing them yourself, sharing them with optional password protection, and syncing them through your own iCloud.
ScanBasic has no paid tier, in-app purchase, advertising or ScanBasic account. The app requires iOS 18 or later.
Self-signing only
ScanBasic places a signature you draw onto a document. It does not collect signatures from other people, verify identity or certify documents, and it does not advise whether a signed document will be accepted.
Your responsibilities
- Check scans and recognised text before you rely on them; text recognition can make mistakes.
- Keep any password you use to protect a shared PDF. ScanBasic cannot recover it.
- Sign only documents you are entitled to sign, and only with your own signature.
- Protect the iPhone, Apple Account and shared files you control.
- Keep a suitable backup or copy of documents that are important to you.
- Use ScanBasic lawfully and do not attempt to interfere with the app, Apple services or another person’s data.
iCloud and other Apple services
Sync, Files access, backups, the camera, the photo and document pickers, Face ID and share-sheet destinations depend on Apple services, device settings, network availability and Apple Account status. Their operation and availability are not controlled by the developer. Exact iCloud delivery timing is not guaranteed.
Your data
You retain control of the documents you add. ScanBasic does not claim ownership of your documents, scans or shared files.
Data handling is described in ScanBasic privacy. Instructions for deleting documents from your iPhone and from iCloud are included in ScanBasic support.
ScanBasic and BasicApps materials
The app, website, interface, branding and original materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. This does not claim ownership of your documents or of Apple materials.
Availability and changes
ScanBasic may be updated to fix defects, maintain compatibility, improve privacy or complete the core experience. If the app reaches end of life, that will be stated plainly. The app’s features are designed not to depend on a developer server; iCloud sync still depends on Apple services and the Apple Developer account remaining available.
Material changes to these terms will be published with a new effective date and, when appropriate, explained in the app or release information. Continued use after updated terms take effect means the updated terms apply, subject to rights that cannot be excluded.
Consumer rights and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a right, guarantee or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, including rights under the Australian Consumer Law where it applies. Information about Australian consumer guarantees is available from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not responsible for loss caused by inaccurate scans or recognised text, a forgotten password on a shared PDF, loss of access to a device or Apple Account, third-party services, or a destination selected for a shared file. This limitation does not apply where the law does not allow it.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and applicable Commonwealth law.
Questions can be sent to support@basicapps.com.au. Do not include documents, passwords or screenshots that show private information.
